Bridge link into Venice Island

Today, the plan was to make a morning visit of Cremona. Its starting to sound like a vacation. A brief visit is still a visit and an occasion to get a glimpse of the city’s culture and history. Venice was about 2 hours ride away. Along the way we got to see the industrial heartland of northern Italy, with industries doted along the straight highway. Quite monotone to the eye but the traffic was dense. Its my impression that the inner highway lane appears to be a pilot’s test lane. Italian motorists seemed to use this lane to ram up to the max speed possible their flashy cars would allow. Cars are cruising on this lane easily up to 180km/hr. We need to get from A to B safely, better stick to the outside lane.

We did arrived early afternoon and booked into a small hotel at Mestre, just on the outskirts of Venice. Its cheaper here ! Venice is a fantastic city and Lydia loves this city. Incidently, Lydia and I first came to Venice 20 years ago on our then Singapore registered bike during our European tour.

We like to stay here a day longer but it’ll break our travel budget as even the internet connections (no uploading available) costs Euro 6.50/hr at our 2* hotel. Good idea to move on. Next, Slovenia.
